This Ethiopian coffee comes from Suke Quto farm and the Suke Quto Washing station, the latter now bringing in coffees from 171 outgrowers in the Guji region. Nowadays, Suke Quto is renowned for some of the best coffees coming out of Ethiopia, which are 100% grown to organic and Rainforest Alliance standards.

Bekele’s farm inhabits the Odo Shakisso district, or woreda, at high altitudes from 1800 meters and up, in lush volcanic soil, enriched by thoughtful organic composting. 

Acidity: Citrusy

Aroma: Sweet

Body: Medium

Milling Process: Natural, Swiss water process

Tasting Notes:  Blackberry, grape, black tea, dark chocolate

Ethiopian heirloom varietals. The growing altitude is 1800 - 2000 meters above sea level. The harvest period is October - January. 

The Swiss Water Process is a chemical-free method for removing caffeine from green coffee. It involves soaking green coffee in fresh water until it reaches a saturation level that allows the dissolvable solids, including caffeine, to be removed. Caffeine-free green coffee extract (GCE) is then introduced to the beans, which causes the caffeine molecules to bind to the GCE. The now-decaffeinated coffee is then dried to the proper moisture content and rested before shipment.
