This Ethiopian coffee comes from Dur Feres, a community blend of natural process beans from smallholders in Sidama, Guji. It was created with the goal of highlighting heavy, berry-forward flavor notes that made Ethiopian coffee stand out in the early days of specialty coffee.

The Dur Feres varietals are JARC 74148, JARC 74110, Setami, and Mikicho. The growing altitude is 1800 meters above sea level. The harvest period is October - January. 

The Swiss Water Process is a chemical-free method for removing caffeine from green coffee. It involves soaking green coffee in fresh water until it reaches a saturation level that allows the dissolvable solids, including caffeine, to be removed. Caffeine-free green coffee extract (GCE) is then introduced to the beans, which causes the caffeine molecules to bind to the GCE. The now-decaffeinated coffee is then dried to the proper moisture content and rested before shipment.

My favorite decaf on earth!

I've been buying Talking Crow coffee since the beginning! I am so thankful to have a clean, excellent tasting decaf! I brew at home in an espresso machine and the taste is wonderful. Might I say, better than any coffee shop I've been to. While I highly recommend any of the decaf choices, the Ethiopia is my favorite.
